During the last family gathering, one of my cousins suddenly told us she was considering breast implants. She is tall and skinny, and therefore she always goes for the smallest bra size possible. Since she owns a sleep and swimwear store and she wants to be the model for her own products to cut cost, she has decided to go on a diet; and once you have had a nose job and eyebrow tattooing, the next step is inevitable. There is nothing wrong with women trying to be more confident in themselves; some men even pay for their women’s cosmetic surgery because they enjoy admiring a perfect looking woman; it is just harder for men to navigate around women’s bodies and how they work now that there are extra parts to consider. Not every woman will tell you they have breast implants and make sure you handle their breast with care. In my massage career, I mostly work with men but only a dozen women, one of whom definitely had implants and another might have done so too, but it was not so obvious. When I first encountered such a client, I was nervous and confused since I wasn’t sure how to go about her breasts without troubling them thinking that I might cause some damages to the sacs and have to pay for them. Out of curiosity, I did some research into breast composition and breast implants in addition to interview a few male clients on how to go about detecting if a woman has fake breasts. The following signs are definite although not exhaustive:
1 Look for scars below their breasts or armpits or near the nipples. In my case, I saw two very small scars under my clients’ breasts. I didn’t dare to ask if they were fake since it was sensitive subject.
2 They are usually firm and not very elastic. They seem to stand vertically and upright even when the woman lies down and the shape doesn’t change.
3 They seem disproportionate in comparison to the rest of the body. There seems to be no gap/ distance between two breasts. Both of my clients were skinny and tall, but their breasts were round and a bit too large for their body.
4 They are evenly large or small. My cousin told me she wouldn’t have big implants since they obviously look fake, but even if they are small, they shouldn’t be even. This I remember very well from my makeup teacher. She told me from her experience working with hundreds of women, people don’t have even pairs of eyes, eyebrows and lips; one is always bigger, lower or fuller respectively. The same should go for breasts and buttocks although the latter could very well result from muscle imbalance not anatomical features. One breast should always be slightly bigger than the other. I consciously observed my face and my body and I do realise where on my bodily my above features are the case. Luckily makeup can help women hide most if not all of their defects.
5 If a woman has other fake parts (noses, dimples, chin, cheek, butt) chances are they might as well go for breast implants
6 Some client told me to look at women’s breasts from the side to see if the distance between the nipple to the upper and lower breast is the same. Natural breasts are shaped more like a pear- fuller at the bottom. Natural breasts usually sag as women age, and if the women don’t look that fit but their breasts do; it should raise a red flag. However the new breast implant technology can fix this and give women the natural breast looks.
