Dear clients and subscribers to my blog,
I am currently residing in GA, US and I will be here or wherever for the next few months till I get enrolled in a massage school to become certified and licensed massage therapist. I will return to Vietnam hopefully in a year time to for a month visit as long as there is no mandatory quarantine back home.
Before I left for the US, it was a hectic time. There was a sense of urgency and last-minute chance felt and seized by clients. An American, an avid kite surfer, living in Mui Ne booked a resort for me and of course bought the highest package possible and even considered a couple package for his lovely neighbors. Then there’s a Ukrainian client, another kite surfing expert, who just quit his job and had plenty of time on his hand, decided to go for training and a new product. There’s this French client who was willing to offer me a job and his apartment for my massage business if I ever decide to come back to Vietnam and set up shop. The massage journey with him was an interesting one. When I first met him, he was unable to relax, and he was aware of it. He talked non-stop even though I asked him to stay still and keep quiet. It was hard to keep him not moving around. He would ask random questions, open and close his eyes, turn his head, move his legs, crop up his shoulders. At first, I would answer his questions but of course not encourage more questions; eventually I would just resort to YES, NO and uh huh. I would say he talked for probably 30 minutes of a 60-minute massage. After the massage, he told me he could feel the magic in my hand. He then had another massage a week later; this time, he asked fewer questions and at the end of it, he told me his body remembered the touch and he could feel at ease more. He was surprised too since it wasn’t in his nature not to talk for a while. During the third massage, he spoke only two sentences and stayed silent for the rest of the routine. After he got changed, he was a different person, alive and full of energy. He whistled and hummed, running around the kitchen to make food. He sat me down and insisted on making me a cup of coffee; he opened the fridge knowing he didn’t have much since he was about to start a two week trip the next day and still offering me an omelet or scrambled egg. He told me that I did enough for him, and he needed to do something to return that favor. He could feel the energy running through him; this was not new to me; I had seen this effect many times before but to his extent and his generosity and hospitality, it was the first. He made sure I finished my bread and milk coffee and not forgot to take two bags of coffee as gifts to remember him by before letting me go. During the fourth massage, a week before left, he did not say a single word and he fell asleep for a few minutes since he could hear him snore though quietly. I was ecstatic. The massage was meant to produce such effect and it did.
On Saturday right before I had my COVID test for the flight, I had a big booking for 90’ in a four-star hotel. The client transferred the money for the hotel and we both looked forward to it; then I didn’t feel well. I had a sore throat, and I booked an appointment for a standard medical check-up. The doctor told me my throat was red but not inflamed; I told my client and anyone that wanted to see me off on Mon about my condition to give them a choice. My cough could just be an allergy to the weather or a result of my talking too much in my teaching job. Since I started working as an English teacher and foreplay trainer, I always talked too much and even developed vocal nodules according to an ear and throat specialist last time I had an endoscopy. My client decided to postpone it till I come back in the future. Also, before my departure, I had a chance to teach two couples. The most interesting thing about these two couples is that they are driven by the women’s desire to learn more about themselves. Of all couples that had had training with me, the man was the one that initiated the idea and made contact. At one time, an Indian woman who loved to received training made a deposit and an appointment, but she had to forfeit it because her partner changed his mind at the last minute, and she couldn’t convince him otherwise. Much to my surprise, the two female clients are strong, independent women, and seem to know what they want. It was also the first time in my 6-year career of teaching foreplay, I taught a woman about her body and how to guide her partner to navigate it. She even learned the nuru routine-non-commercial one to perform on her partner.
On leaving Vietnam hastily leaving behind many unfinished businesses as well as many clients I haven’t said goodbye properly. Among these is my regular French client, who failed to see me due to an urgent business trip overseas. We had our venue, but we had to postpone it, then we cancelled it the second time on account of an early flight out of Vietnam. In his words, “If at some point you want to come back VN visiting your mum, you let me know and (I) will arrange it.”
I will return to Vietnam as soon as I can; you just need to follow me on FB or twitter; in the meantime, I will continue to blog about my work, my encounter and what I have learned during my massage career and maybe my new developments in the future. Take care and stay safe during this Covid time, my dear clients and wonderful readers.
